About Joe Keith
Joseph Keith is a photographer and videographer who was born and raised in Beaufort, South Carolina. Around 12 or 13 he began teaching himself trampoline stunts and filming videos of him and his friends doing them. Joe began posting these videos on YouTube and Instagram. Eventually he began making non-flip related videos. He even posted over 100 days in a row on YouTube at one point while filming and editing everything on his own. After a few years, he began taking flips (the sport of Tricking specifically) much more serious and stopped posting regularly on YouTube.
In February 2020 Joe quit tricking due to injuries. Later that month he began pursuing photography as his main hobby. Over the next year he experimented with as many various disciplines of photography as possible and took 3 photography courses offered by his university. He graduated from the University of South Carolina, Beaufort in April 2021. After graduating he began his career as an independent photography and videography contractor. During the first month of this freelancing business, Joe formed a relationship with WHHI-TV, Beaufort County's main local station. This relationship allowed him to meet many important members of the community.
On August 12th, 2021, Joseph began working on his Beaufort County project that he refers to as Homeland. This was his first focused, large-scale project since becoming a photographer. This series of images focuses on important landmarks to the area. Each image tells the story of the history of the landmark, Joe’s personal experiences at that landmark, and the process of capturing the image. This collection remains ongoing, and he hopes to finish capturing the images in late summer 2022. Eventually he hopes that this series of photographs can be compiled into a photo book for sale in many stores around Beaufort County.
