Where the Beaufort River meets Downtown Beaufort, there are 3 distinct features that it encounters. The downtown Beaufort marina, Henry C. Chambers Park (known at Waterfront Park), and the Richard V. Woods Memorial Bridge. I opted to create images that have a strong focus on one of these features instead of capturing all of them in one image. This image is most focused on the marina. The morning that I took this picture was one of the most gorgeous sunrises I have ever seen. The purple hues in the sky were almost mesmerizing.
I love stopping at the Downtown Marina to dive from the farthest-reaching dock in the middle of a kayaking excursion. One day me and one of my best friends took 3 jet-skis and both of our girlfriends from The Hilton Head Harbour (where he worked) all the way to this marina. We hit a storm in the middle of the Port Royal Sound and almost got beached on a sand bar on the way back, but those hiccups did not stop that day from being one of my favorites from that summer.
