The Rose Hill Mansion is one of the less important landmarks that I chose to cover in Homeland – Beaufort County. Although I had been in Rose Hill plenty of times, I do not believe I had ever seen it until I found it online while researching landmarks of Beaufort County. However, what it loses in importance in my personal life, it more than makes up for it visually. When I saw photos online it was such an exciting feeling to find a new place that I did not know existed. Many famous photographers refer to a camera simply as “a tool to learn how to see the world.” While I agree with this sentiment that I look at things more carefully since becoming a photographer, another effect of my camera is I have become even more adventurous in finding new places to photography. More than a tool to learn how to see the world, my camera has become a taught me how to explore the world.
