The salt marsh is Beaufort county’s most unique ecosystem. The golden color of the marsh grass in the winter has always stuck me as such a great characteristic of the lowcountry. As a kid I would traverse the salt marshes and occasionally play in the pluff mud with my cousins. I have always appreciated the salt marshes, but I found an even deeper interest with them after purchasing my first drone. The different shapes that the rivers, creeks, and small islands make in the fields of marsh grass is one of my favorite things to photograph. I took this photo as the sun was going down on a November evening. The contrast of the golden marsh grass (made even more extravagant with the setting sun) against the light blue sky is my favorite element in this image.
